11:31 pm - some thought-provoking fortunes as of late

Two fortune cookies to report. They probably all came from delivery places, likely "Burger Win" or "Burger Joy" in East Atlanta.

The first read,

Now is the time for peace in your life. Go along with other's ideas.

They misplaced the apostrophe, I believe. But the gist of this one made me feel sort of weird. To have peace in my life, I must not have any ideas of my own? That could definitely alleviate some frictions, but I'm not sure it's the best prescription. Thanks for creating an existential conundrum, Mr. Cookie.

The next reads,

You deserve special treatment this month. Enjoy dessert.

Hm. It is my birthday month and I was planning on special treatment, but more of the massage/haircut/new clothing variety. Dessert however, is something I skip way too often. Not now. Now that the cookie has empowered me, I will attempt dessert with every meal! So, does a fortune count as dessert?

11:18 pm - i think all of these were from Chin Chin

Three good ones lately:

You will soon witness a miracle.
I haven't (I don't think), but how do the cookies define "soon"? Still on the lookout...

Your lost possession will be found within the month.
A little more precise on the timeframe here. For some reason though this one sounds a bit ominous.

and last, but definitely not least...

Focus on the color purple this week to bring you luck.
O..K.. I did carry this around in my wallet for a while to whip out on occasion, and I actually did try to make note of when I saw purple, but I can't say I was any luckier than usual. A few weeks after getting this though, I got the same fortune again!

I had just discovered something my partner had done in the past that just about broke my heart, and just about broke us up.  He left town for work a few days later and sent this to me via cell phone:

You probably can't read it, but it says Time to collect those goods

That's just ominous.

Psst... Is this thing on? Man I wish we could remember the password so we could change the icons and stuff. Anyway, I ordered Chinese last night and wound up eating the fortune cookies for breakfast (yum). The fortunes were very entertaining and thought-provoking.

An admirer is too shy to greet you.

You will attend an unusual party and meet someone important.

So I'm just superstitious enough to look at folks I see often like "'sup?" and start fishing for invitations to places I wouldn't normally go. Yeah. Anyone got a line on some good Halloween parties? :-)

9:28 pm - Courage in the Face of 2/3 the Luck

Susan's Odd Fortune CookieI must be lacking in Eastern wisdom. I confess, I'm at a loss as to how my inner courage to be great relates to the fact that they've gypped me out of two lucky numbers, unless the secret lies in finding the hidden 24 within the 24 and the hidden 32 within the 32. Can't remember the restaurant, but I got this one a few years ago and it was the truest one which, I feel, I have ever received.

"No man is without enemies".

I manages a Chinese restaurant and the worst part is to have handle complaints. Today a middle aged woman, who just got divorced last year, had a complain about her fortune. It read "You and your wife will live happily."

I need to switch brand again. Some of the fortunes from this company are really really dumb.

Well, I decided to post this here because it has a Fortune Cookie subject matter. The second SINGLE LIFE comic. The newest thing coming to publication is Alex Hansen's SINGLE LIFE. Published in Northern Michigan University's Northwind newspaper, this facinating comic is centered around the dating life of a dorky kid.

"Try something new for lunch tomorrow."

And here's an old one that sticks out in my mind.
